01 Our Story

Brigadoon is the private investment office of an industrial family from Wil, in the canton of St. Gallen. The family's capital comes from manufacturing: machinery and components, built and sold in eastern Switzerland for generations.

The work set the habits. Know what you make. Stand behind it. Let the years do the compounding.

In 2015 the family established Brigadoon in Appenzell, to hold what the business had built and to put it to work by the same measure.

The next generation now directs the allocations. We invest only our own capital.

02 The Name

Brigadoon is a village from an old story: it appears for a single day, once every hundred years, and is gone again.

We work the same way. Present when it matters, unseen the rest of the time.

«We invest the way we were built: patiently, and with our own money.»

03 Values

Independence.
Our capital is our own. We answer to no fund clock and no outside committee.
Understanding.
We invest only in businesses we can explain to ourselves, down to the engineering.
Patience.
We take few decisions, and we stand behind them for years.

04 Focus

Our investment focus is on industrial technology, real assets and new forms of infrastructure. We look for operators who know their craft as well as we knew ours.

We invest globally and long-term, without exit pressure. Initial allocations range from CHF 2 to 4 million, with the intention to follow on.

We do not publish our holdings. We do not manage third-party capital.

05 Approach

Many investors begin with the asset class. We begin with the operator: businesses we understand, at prices we can justify, held longer than most funds can.

06 Process

We work from introductions. A first conversation, a short evaluation with our technical advisor, and a decision. This usually takes two to three weeks.
